Quick Overview
When: Dates to be arranged. 10-14 days in
Late June - Late July, 2010
Where: Beijing and Taiyuan, Shanxi China
(The province just to the West of Beijing - See
map below)
Who: Teachers (spouses invited too) and
others considered on a case by case basis
What: This will be a trip to see the historical
and culturally relevant siteseeing
opportunities in Beijing and Taiyuan, Shanxi.
While there, we will also be doing minor
renovations and classroom set up for a rural
school.
Why: This area of China has the highest birth
defect in the world. Many children are
abandoned due to their conditions. Because
the school is not up to par, there are 200 plus
orphans in this village that cannot attend
school. If we can provide some minor
renovations and add some needed supplies,
these children will be able to attend school
for the first time.
Cost: The entire trip will be $2200. This
includes airfare, intra country travel,
siteseeing, guides, hotel (double occupancy)
3 meals a day. (Everything except souvenirs.)

| Donations Needed We are in need of many items for this trip. The school is needing several things including computers, books, musical instruments (percussion and keyboard). We also need general school supplies (pens, pencils, rulers, glue, etc.) Finally, we are needing to make some renovations to the building (handicap accessible modifications). Please consider donating items or money for this cause, giving orphans a chance at an education. |
